Dr. Rishibha Dixit 20 M.Phil., Ph.D.
I have completed B.Sc. degree in Biology with the Zoology, Botany & Chemistry from the CSJM University, Kanpur, (U.P.) and M.Sc. in Microbiology from the Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur, (M.P.). During M.Sc. I did one year diploma in “Water Quality & Monitoring” as a value addition to my academic achievements. I did my M.Sc. dissertation for around six months on “Diseases of Bamboo in Living Plant & Stored Wood Occurring Around in Jabalpur” from the pathology department, Tropical Forest Research Institute (T.F.R.I.) Jabalpur, (M.P.) for the partial fulfillment of M.Sc.
In continuation to my studies I did M.Phil. in Microbiology with the dissertation on “Algae as a Novel Source of Biofuels from the Department of P.G. Studies & Research in Biological Science, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur, (M.P.). During M.Phil, I published a review article on “Micro-Algal biofuels.
Currently, I have completed my Ph.D. in Microbiology on “Biodiesel Production from Microalgae" from the same University.
During Ph.D. research, I have worked on isolation, purification, identification and molecular characterization of isolated microalgae and submitted 5 gene sequences in NCBI.
Screening and selection of richest lipid containing microalga on the basis of growth kinetic, biomass productivity and lipid yield. After that, optimization of growth and lipid content of microalga was done under different nutritional and environmental conditions. Mass cultivation was also done in raceway pond for production of large biomass.
Last and most important part of biodiesel production is extraction of lipid from the microalgal biomass, for this process sonicator and soxhlet apparatus were used. GCMS, FTIR and NMR techniques were used for the qualitative estimation of microalgal lipid after the preparation of FAME.
